While we're still enduring the angonising wait for Avengers 4, there's one more movie to go before we see the aftermath of that fateful finger snap, and boy, is it a big one. According to Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige, Brie Larson's Captain Marvel could very well be the Marvel Cinematic Universe's most powerful figure, and since Nick Fury sent out a urgent SOS to her during the end credits of Infinity War, she will no doubt play a major role in the coming reckoning with Thanos.

But who is she, and why haven't we seen her before now? That should all be answered in next year's Captain Marvel, turning back the clock to the 90's, and detailing Air Fiorce pilot Carol Danvers' transformation into the planet cracking super heroine, and her battle with the shape shifting alien Skrulls, led by the best Star Wars bad guy since Darth Vader, Rogue One's Ben Mendelshon. Entertainment Weekly have the first images from the movie, including our first looks at Jude Law as her mentor and leader of the space faring Starforce, and some returing faces in the form of Lee Pace's Ronan the Accuser, Dijmon Hounsou's Korath the Pursuer (both last seen in Guardians of the Galaxy), and Samuel L. Jackson getting the Marvel Studio's patented de-aging treatment to play a young, pre-eye patch Nick Fury.

Captain Marvel comes our way March 8th 2019.
